CCP Global announced today that Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE: BBY), North America`s largest consumer electronics retailer, is using CCP global to implement its Ariba®, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARBA) procurement solution, in an effort to reduce two of its biggest overhead costs – indirect goods and travel expenses.
CCP global, the third largest Ariba systems integrator, provides significant change management expertise, along with strategic sourcing and procurement knowledge to support companies during the design and installation of new procurement and sourcing systems.
“Through Ariba® Buyer™, CCP global is helping Best Buy to streamline and automate our purchasing process in order to reduce the cost of procuring indirect goods,” said Dan McDermott, information systems program manager at Best Buy. “CCP global`s business and technical knowledge will help us be successful as we continue to enhance our eProcurement initiatives.”
CCP global is helping Best Buy to integrate its back-end systems, including the Oracle financial platform, and to create a single system, powered by Ariba, for purchasing that replaces multiple older systems currently in use. CCP global is working on the Best Buy project in conjunction with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Group, which is handling the sourcing components during the deployment.
With an initial implementation of four months, CCP global has helped Best Buy capture the individual spending for items such as office supplies, computers, services, business forms and travel expenses. By the summer of 2002, 500 Best Buy stores and Best Buy corporate offices are expected to be using the Ariba® Spend Management™ solution.
“Best Buy understands the necessity of Internet-enabling its purchasing processes to cut spending,” said Dennis Ducham, president and CEO, CCP global. “In a competitive industry like consumer electronics, overhead reduction and process improvements are key to reducing operating costs.”
“Leading Enterprise Spend Management solutions from Ariba combined with implementation expertise and knowledge from CCP global will position Best Buy to realize procurement efficiencies and cost reductions,” said Eileen McPartland, executive vice president solutions development and delivery, Ariba, Inc.
CCP global`s expert analysis and seamless integration expedite the adoption and simplify the learning for Global 1000 customers such as Best Buy that are implementing eProcurement and sourcing systems. It helps customers enhance the acceptance and use of these systems by strategic suppliers, leading to greater cost savings.
